My husband is almost impossible to shop for. Every year, family members ask me what to buy for him, and I’m often stumped. I finally sat down with him and made a list, and I thought it might be helpful for you, if you’re stuck on what to buy a man in your life. (Women are SO much easier to shop for!)

- This is his favorite cologne, bar none. He says the smell is classic and clean.
- He swears that every man wants Clark Griswold’s mug from National Lampoon’s Christmas.
- John found this sweatshirt online and absolutely loves it.
- Darn Tough socks are the best! Have you ever tried them? Worth every penny.
- He wants a water pik for Christmas. Does that mean we’re officially old?
- He’s asking for a weekender bag, and he keeps mentioning one we saw at a gorgeous leather store in Norfolk, VA. I’ll need to save up for this gift, but maybe I can get it for him next year.
- These Grinch pj pants are under our tree this year.
- Every year he asks for grilling gloves. (They need to be replaced every year because I insist on washing them, and over time that makes them less effective at protecting hands from heat.)
- This meat thermometer looks fantastic! His cheaper ones keep breaking, so it’s time to get an upgrade like this.
- The Barbour jacket is quite pricey, but it’s a classic. John has had his for years, and it still looks great.
- With this multitool, he’ll be able to open boxes, replace screws, cut wires — all at a moment’s notice!
One other idea that might be helpful: he’s always saying our knives aren’t sharp enough, so I’m planning to toss all our knives in a cardboard box and take them to be sharpened. If you’re in the DC area, there’s a shop that specializes in knife sharpening in Union Market.
I hope this list gives you some ideas. Happy shopping!
